I think the idea is that many animals get killed JUST for their fur (or tortured in the process), and nothing else on the animal is used... that is why the whole fur-is-murder thing all got started.
But sheep are sheared, and they grow wool back, so that's animal-friendly. It's like donating for locks-for-love.
